About Us
Who We Are
The St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District is a non-profit water conservancy district. We were created in 1971 to develop, conserve, protect and educate on water resources in the St. Vrain and Left Hand valleys. We are run by a small, dedicated team and governed by a locally appointed board of directors.
Our district serves an area of approximately 475 miles, extending up to the Continental Divide on the west; the confluence of St. Vrain Creek and the South Platte River on the east; the Boulder/Larimer county line on the north; and the Boulder Creek drainage on the south. As a local government, the District serves its constituents within and outside of Longmont.

Past Initiatives
We partnered in the 2013 flood recovery efforts and more recently spearheaded efforts to create a Stream Management Plan for the St. Vrain and Left Hand valleys. We have also recently adopted a comprehensive business plan and promoted the voter-supported Water Action Plan.
