Our Board of Directors

Christopher Smith was appointed to the St. Vrain and Left Hand Board of Directors on November 11, 2013, and elected Vice President on September 11, 2017.

Smith is currently the General Manager at Left Hand Water District where he has worked since 2000 holding other positions including District Engineer and Operations Manager. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado and a Master of Science degree in Management from Colorado State University.

In addition to his work with the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District and Left Hand Water District, Smith serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Watershed Center. He has been heavily involved in water treatment and distribution, operations, infrastructure design, planning, supply management, water quality and conservation.

Smith lives with his family in Longmont.

Bringing a passion for the Land, Water and Environment, Varra seeks to be an effective leader for the district.

Kurt Carlson was appointed to the St. Vrain and Left Hand Board of Directors on November 12, 2018. A Colorado native, avid cyclist and trail advocate, Carlson grew up on his family farm near Eaton, Colorado. One of his first jobs was as a ditch rider for the Town Boyd Lateral Ditch in Eaton. Mr. Carlson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Northern Colorado and also holds a Master of Applied Science degree from the University of Denver with an emphasis in Environmental Information Management. He focused his graduate studies on water quality, storm drainage, trail/greenway protection and enhancement.

Carlson served as the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Department Director for Lyons from 1994-2001 and was instrumental in developing Lyons’ first comprehensive Parks Open Space and Trails (POST) Master Plan. He also served on the CSU Extension Advisory Board in Boulder County for ten years. Carlson lives in Lyons and serves on the Lyons Ecology Advisory Board.

Mike Rademacher was appointed to the St. Vrain and Left Hand Board of Directors on November 8, 2010 and elected Board Treasurer on January 9, 2012.

Rademacher is a fourth-generation farmer in the Longmont area with a farm dating back to the 1900’s. Retired in 2021, he farms over 1,500 acres of irrigated and dry land and is the Manager of Rademacher Farms LLC. Mike has strong leadership skills and has achieved a Level 1 Leadership Certification through the State of Colorado.

Rademacher also serves as Vice President of the Lake McIntosh Board, Treasurer of Longmont Soil Conservation District, Treasurer of the Highland Ditch Co, and is President of the Beaver Park Reservoir.

Rademacher is married to his wife Vicki and has two children and five grandchildren.

Reggie Golden was appointed to the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District Board of Directors on December 12, 2016.

In addition to serving on the District Board, Golden also serves on the several ditch company boards and manages over 500 acres of farm and ranch land in Boulder County. He has previously served on the Boards of the Saint Vrain Sanitation District, Longmont Economic Development Association, Colorado Contractors Safety Association and was President of the Colorado Ready Mix Association.

Golden brings an entrepreneurial spirit and over 25 years of experience in the construction, gravel and land development business to the Board. He led the effort to prepare and permit an environmentally sensitive, comprehensive master plan to mine and reclaim 500 acres over 30 years in Boulder County. After the 2013 flood, he worked on the cooperative flood recovery efforts to obtain funding and facilitate repairs and flood mitigation with the District, ditch companies, local farmers, Boulder County and the City of Longmont. This ongoing effort has reinforced his commitment to preservation and conservation of our valuable water resources and the beautiful place we call home.

Golden is a graduate of West Texas State University. He is a fourth generation Longmont resident and continues his family’s tradition of service to the community and stewardship of our natural resources. He resides in Longmont with his wife Sarah.

Wolford retired in October of 2022 as the Open Space Manager of the Land Program with the City of Longmont where he worked since 2000. Prior to joining the City of Longmont, Wolford served as Manager of Parks with Boulder County Parks and Open Space and Parks Division Coordinator with the South Suburban Parks and Recreation District. He has a Master of Science in Natural Resources and Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Park and Recreation Administration from Ohio State University, where he played varsity lacrosse. Wolford has the distinction of having a Certified Risk Management designation as an associate in Risk Management (ARM), American Institute for Property and Liability, and received a GIS certificate from Front Range Community College.

In addition to his work with the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District, Wolford has served as an Executive Steering Committee member for the Colorado Open Space Association (COS) since its inception in 2002 until 2019. He previously has been a member of the Nature Area Association, Colorado Parks and Recreation, Colorado Outdoor Recreation Resource Program. He has also been a member of the Longmont Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from 1994-2001, the CSU/Boulder County Extension Advisory Committee Chairman from 2008-2019 and is the current Conservation Chair for St. Vrain Angler, Trout Unlimited, serving as a Board member since 2014. He is also currently serving on the Advisory Board for the Colorado Headwater Land Trust in Grand County.

Wolford’s background in water includes serving as a board member on the Union Reservoir Board from 2007 – 2022, serving as treasurer on the Lake McIntosh Reservoir Board from 2007-2022, serving as a board member and president of the Bonus Ditch Board from 2010-2022, and as the Open Space Manager for the City of Longmont where he acquired and managed water rights since 2001 until his retirement.

Wolford has been married to his loving wife, Dr. Jane Wolford, a local Longmont Optometrist, for 40 years. Together they have three great children of which he is very proud, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Adam. Wolford is an avid fly fisherman and flytier and relies on water resources for work and fun.

Jonathan Moore was appointed to the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District Board of Directors on November 1, 2021. Drawing on decades of work in land use, natural resource management, land and water conservation and renewable energy, Moore has a proven track record facilitating public & private partnerships to preserve Colorado’s unique agricultural and natural landscapes. Early in his career, Moore served as deputy director for a statewide land conservation organization facilitating numerous collaborative partnership between local, state and federal agencies, utilities, energy entrepreneurs and farm and ranch owners. Moore has a Masters of Climate Change & Development, a Masters of Community and Regional Planning and a Bachelor of Science, Economics.

Moore and his wife, Katharine, own a homestead farm irrigating under the Left Hand/New Table Mountain Ditch systems. In his spare time, Jonathan enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, woodworking and traveling with his family.

Cassidy is passionate about protecting open space, agricultural land, and water rights through project work, public engagement, and environmental education. With over 17 years of experience in plant and restoration ecology, natural resources, and open space property acquisition and stewardship, she brings a depth of knowledge to her role. Between 2019 and 2023, Cassidy successfully managed the Button Rock Preserve Management Plan process for Longmont and in 2022, she began serving on the Bonus Ditch Board.

Cassidy is thrilled to be serving on the Board of Directors for SVLHWCD. She lives in Longmont with her partner and two young children.
