Passage Playbook

Our valleys need collaboration now more than ever before. Water demands continue to increase, and climate variability is presenting challenges to all who rely on the St. Vrain and Left Hand creeks. As a result, we need to complete more passage and creek health projects. These projects are complicated and require extensive collaboration to get funding across the finish line. The District created the Playbook to help project partners avoid miscommunication and other common obstacles, and instead build the trust and collaboration to make more projects successful.

Experienced water resources professionals from Boulder County, City of Longmont, and the St. Vrain and Left Hand Water Conservancy District developed the Playbook to acknowledge and apply lessons learned from more than 40 years of experience working with owners and proponents. As the primary author of the Playbook, The Watershed Center compiled the knowledge and expertise provided, and guided the Playbook’s development and process. They integrated information from the Watershed Center’s passage projects and Left Hand Fish Passage Report.
